I now know that I'm not able to keep up a regular blog, a xanga blog, and a hair journal. Perhaps the occasional update will be managed- however, I would be rather surprised if I had any readers! Most are lost after a ten month hiatus.
Currently, my hair is a half an inch shy of 45 inches. It feels very odd. Let's see, I started in April of '05, I believe, with 36 inch hair. I thought I had long hair then, though I remember looking at other members, Leia, especially, and feeling a little daunted.
Now, ironically, my hair is longer than both Leia's and Fox's, and it's growing like a weed. I've had a very regular half inch growth since I started measuring, with a whole inch last month, and no change to credit it to.
I am a little disconcerted by my shedding. I shed handfuls, and that is not an exaggeration, in the shower, and I take a large hairball off my brush each time I go over my hair, not necessarily just once a day.
One thing that amazes me is the condition of my ends and how they bounce back. They used to be horrible- all dry splits- but I did a one inch trim just before I started measuring with the Loom, and have not trimmed since then. I have found only a few split ends since then, and occasional white dots. My ends are straight and not too crispy. I've found recently that wet oiling when they seem dry causes soft ends in the morning.
I'm unsure. Honestly, I love having long hair and don't think I will ever want it short. But the shedding is such a nuisance- many people I know tell me stories about their family members finding long hairs on their floors, beds, clothing, and saying, "Oh, it must be Hannah!"- that I don't know for sure what to do. I suppose I'll go on living life as usual and ignore the extra shedding. I don't seem to be losing relative thickness.
I do, however, need more updos. I've never been able to do an infinity or figure eight bun, I'm hopeless. I also can't hold a bun with only a hairstick, though I can do nice cinnamon buns with pins. So, I'll run off to bed now and get some sleep. But I thought an update was merited.
