Thanks for posting this thoughtful response, Tara. As you can see from the Orlando page and elsewhere, the notion of what it means to be a hostess is indeed a recurring motif. Your comment also prompts another question. Do you find that your work as a hostess is trivialized or underappreciated by others? And as both a painter and a hostess, do you find people tend to see you as both, or do people tend to know only you primarily through one or the other of these aspects?
