Iglesia Anti-Drug Drive In Angeles City Lauded
The Iglesia Ni Cristo has launched socio-civic activities that are geared at helping the government combat drug menace and drumbeat a cleanliness program in the grassroots. Homer A. Tiomico, INC district minister, said an anti-drug campaign will be launched Saturday through a motorcade in Angeles City's major thoroughfares. The citywide activity will start at 1 p.m. Tiomico also said the INC will initiate a cleanliness and beautification campaign, starting at Barangay Lourdes Northwest. The project is to be replicated in other villages of this city in coordination with the Angeles City Government and barangay officials. INC, considered as a very influential in socio-political exercises in the country, will implement and sustain the anti-drug and cleanliness program all throughout this year, Tiomico added. The Angeles City Council has lauded the contribution of INC in government's program to curb drug problem and effect a cleanliness project. Councilor Jay Sangil said the initiative of the INC is a welcome development. He said he would file a corresponding resolution that will acknowledge the efforts of the INC. "We would like to thank everyone in INC, particularly its officials, for helping in the drive to clean the city of the long-time drug menace and also for the physical clean-up program," Sangil said. "The cooperation and initiative of the church is vital in ensuring the success of the government in these areas. We enjoin all other groups and the private sector to do the same commendable participation. (continued)
