Winners have scents of achievement
The borough’s brightest and best gardens were celebrated this week with the results of the Wandsworth In Bloom competition.
More than 150 green-fingered residents entered the annual competition organised by Wandsworth Council’s leisure and amenity department and sponsored by the Borough News (which sponsored the Best Blooming Community Area), B&Q Wandsworth, JC Decaux and Covent Garden Market Authority.
Judges from the London Gardens Society spent two days visiting each entry before selecting the following winners: p Best Blooming Front Garden – Brandy Allen, Burntwood Lane, Tooting (right).
p Best Blooming Window boxes and hanging baskets – London Ambulance Station, Battersea.
p Best Blooming Pub/ Restaurant or Hotel – The Nightingale Public House, Balham (left).
p Best Blooming Commercial Premises – The Kew Gardener, Merton Road, Southfields.
p Best Blooming Public Building – Iglesia Ni Cristo, Parkgate Road, Battersea.
p Best Blooming Community Area – Hill Lodge, St John’s Hill, Battersea.
p Best Blooming School – Furzedown School, Tooting.
The winners will receive certificates and cash prizes up to £100 at a special ceremony next month. See the Borough News next month for full coverage.
