Hello i am a parent of a loving special lil 6 yr old boy that is development delayed. I have enrolled him in K this year because i didn't think he was ready when he was 5. He has an IEP that states that they thought he would b ok in the regular classroom with other children and well they want to pull him out of there and when i say they i mean the board of education for special education. They want to put him with other children that do not have the same classification as my son. I know i want the best for my child but they won't even give him a chance to see what he is capable of and what he is not. It is just like they don't care of the out come of my child. I know that sounds really selfish . I just want to let my child know that i will always love him no matter what happens. My mother was in the special education services she is now retired but she gives me some info but i think ppl are just givin me a run around on that. I want clay to have an aid for the classroom that he is going to b in. They told me and my mother that clay was not up to par with the other children. Why have an aid if it is usless? Well she hasn't seen the great achievment my child has made in the past 4 yrs. He has gradually excelled in his vocabulary. Which they wanted to teach him sign language which was like really wacky but what is it now days i mean i sound like i'm old school when i am just 26 yrs old but it seems like u got to basically begg for help in the education systems here to get something and it makes u think about some kids that don't have no one to fight for them. That is why i wanna know what i can do and how to prevent this from happening to other childeren. I forgot to add that there was a child at the school where he is enrolled that a boy that had an aid. He had an aid for a while and he was like my child where they didn't think he can do it.. Well the one on one that he has recived from what i know he is able to do some of the work now and that is what i'm wodering why in the world he got one and my child is being thrown to the wolves.
