OK I am resigned to the fact the most of m,y plants have yet to bloom or didn't bloom at all. I had half of my Iris fulvas eaten from late winter to early spring by a vole and managed to salvage enough to start over. I had inch worms (?) eat all the foilage on my native columbine and now the aggravasion continues.
On Sunday half of one of my marigolds was chewed off at the base and drug behind the columbine plants. I cleaned up some of it and when I went back to clean up the rest the remainder of the severed stem was completely gone....not even a leaflet was left. I sprinkled cayenne pepper over all the plants. Within the past hour half of one of the columbines was bitten off and taken behind the plant where the maligolds had been taken. What could be chewing these plants off? They are p0lanted right next to the front door and along side of the driveway. Now upon closer inspection I see that half of my youngest Silene regia was chewed off at the crown
I hate to seem so negative but how much worse can this year get!
