Re: What are you other favorite HB and flower sites?

I only used GW until the problem with embedded ads. For a while I was using Birdforum, but it doesn't seem to get the same action and since your site has been up I've basically used it exclusively.
bob, you might want to consider contacting them and seeing if they will link to us, here.
I like to read humnet too, sarah, but I've never posted there. it seems like a really tightly knit group like we are. they put each other up and even hired each other during/after katrina. very nice folks. it has a louisiana/east tx focus, and I don't feel like they need me in their kitchen, stirring things up, but it's great reading, and they link to awesome sites, reports, and images.
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority.

LIke Frank I only visited GW. I tried Birdforum but just didn't seem to fit in there. I am one of those "chatty" people they hoped didn't ruin their site.
Not to worry. I might not be a rocket scientist but I know when I am a square peg that won't fit into a round whole.
I am a member of Dave's Garden too. I enjoy visiting there from time to time. Especially when I need an 'id' on a plant whose name I don't know.

I am a "subscribing member" of Garden web and as luck would have it, my membership came due right before they started being stupid with the intelitext inserts.
The Hummingbird Garden at GW was a fantastic source of information for me when I first started to attract HB's to my yard and it still has alot of the same people there that helped me learn what I needed to do and what plants drew the birds etc..
BUT most of the ones that matter to me have made the short cyber trip to this much friendlier and equally user friendly new HOME.
I still frequent and occasionally post at both the Butterfly Garden and Hummingbird Garden but nothing like in the past. I do visit the Butterfly forum over there more than anything though.
BF is way too serious for me. I like to smile and I also like to share my smile.
Reading our post's here makes me smile and I like that !
A lot of us signed up with the birdforum when GW was giving us fits. What turned me off was someones comment " I hope everyones not going to ooh & aah over everyones pictures. to them both.
I also didn't like the atmosphere at BirdForum. Way too upity for me. I tried Hummingbird HobNob for awhile and it is okay, but not really what I wanted.
THE HUMMINGBIRD FORUM is just right for me and the only one that I post on. Very friendly people who share their experiences about hummers. And we can oooh and aaah all we want!!!
I still sub to the Hobnob but don't post as much as I used to. I am also a member of Humnet but I don't post often unless it is something I can relate to or need info about but they really are quite easy going. like this group, many of the members have been together for a long time and they relate a little more on a personal level with one another. I still check out GW as there are a few of our old group I haven't been able to reach yet. I also use the upstate NY forum a lot. I didn't feel too comfortable at the Bird Forum either. I felt like an idiot amongst professional birders and lastly I check out Dave's Garden when I need info about a plant. Overall the first and last place I check out every day is Our Hummingbird Forum! As Lee already stated, "This Place Rocks"!
