I came across this when I was hunting around on the Etsy site. I don't know this person, I just thought forum members might enjoy seeing this person's handiwork and artistry. What patience to cut out all those intricate tendrils and flowers!

That is nice artwork and I am sure $85 equals a small hourly wage for the time she put into it.

As I look at her site more, I see that she has machine "die cut" versions of her designs that she sells for much less. If I'm understanding it correctly, it's sort of like selling less expensive art prints of paintings, as opposed to selling the originals at a higher price. That hummingbird one seems to be an original.

A search of her site on "hummingbird" results in just that one in her shop for $85--no die cut versions. That $85 does seem low for what must be a lot of work, and I wonder if she could possibly charge more for her originals. Maybe she's able to make up for it with her profits on the machine cut versions.

Like her, I'm a detail person, but I think doing even a single paper cut like that would drive me nuts! Hats off to her for her patience.

Kristin-- That is quite interesting work and detail. Yes, I agree she may be able to charge more the original. I can barely imagine the patience and backbreaking work involved in the artwork by hand. I didnt read the entire piece, but I do wonder how long a period of time it took to complete this.

When I did shows We had a couple of paper cutters that set up close to us. Working with rice paper is much more difficult and time consuming than working with heavier papers and takes a lot more dexterity. Her work is exquisite and some of the best I have seen.
