All I was trying to do was figure out which doggone Firespikes I have and what do I find instead? A new internet nursery! Which I need like a hole in the head! But I thought those of you who are huddled by the fireplace, dreaming of spring, might enjoy perusing their catalog.

Lizette, Nice Find! They do have a lot of good hummer plants that may be difficult to fnd elsewhere. I see that under their salvias they refer you to Robin's Salvias for pictures or more info. They also offer S. subrotunda which is not easy to find online.

What a coincidence. I just found this nursery yesterday too Lizette. They do have a nice selection of salvia, and yup Penny, going to order some subrotunda, cuz I can't locate much seed. Mine didn't set alot last year and what I did get was not the best looking.
Oh Penny that would be awesome, thank you. Last year was the first time I grew this. I really liked the height of the plant and it seemed to get good use. But towards the end of the summer I had a lot of zinnias that i think may have overcrowded it a bit, maybe that's why I didn't get much seed. I think it was competing for food and light. But what a great plant!

I will get some seed out to you. You may also have some reseeders. I had reseeders even in a spot where I only had a couple of plants the first year.

Yes, very nice find. I was surprised to see subrotunda listed, first time Ive even seen it listed for sale. Also it seems the hot lips was reasonably priced also. Im sure it will get a few hits from fellow members.
I'm glad a few people had a good time checking out this website, but when the bills for online plant purchases come in, please remember,..I AM NOT AN ENABLER!
Crowley does not ship, but has some gorgeous photographs. Has anyone grown Holmskioldia sanguinea orange and had Hummer success with it? I bought a Fuchsia gartenmeister last fall and have been raising it indoors this winter. It's a real beauty and has not stopped blooming.
Have been enjoying all your winter posts and photographs.
I'm growing Holmskioldia sanguinea, Chinese Hat. Prior to the last freeze, it was getting plenty of hummer usage. If allowed to do its thing, it will spread by rooting everywhere it touches the ground and creating new plants. I've managed to control it and get a couple of nice hedges by trimming a few plants to 3 foot tall "trees" and then pruning them to a hedge until they began blooming.
If you've got a high enough speed internet connection that plays audio and video well, the plant is featured in a number of the hummer photos from my yard that are displayed during Fred Bassetts interview at:
