I can't believe the temp is actually above freezing today. This is the first in what has seemed like forever. We are up to 46 degrees today so I have moved my salvias out to the porch for some fresh and and a deep watering. This won't last long as it is supposed to cool back down tomorrow but still stay above 32!

I just came back from the grocery store and believe it or not there was a nut in there in shorts and a t-shirt....and no jacket, sweater or even a sweatshirt. Believe me I don't stand it. I stay inside for most of the winter. I don't even go out to put seed in the feeders. I have them hanging out side the kitchen window so I can just pull them in to clean them and refill them.

It was in the mid fifties today. The water that is standing on top of frozen ground will become tomorrow's mud. While the season has been cold here it has also been rather dry. A Tutti Frutti out with some sages looks happy, high and dry with a nice circle of fresh leaves. Tomorrow I'm into the woods on several owl roost searches, probably the last of the winter. And tomorrow the wind kicks up.
Same here. 50's & sunny & saw about 4 Robins. Beautiful out, what little I could enjoy. Had put my little wheelbarrow with a few of my unheated garage over-winters in my sisters 45 degree heated garage back when we were below zero. Figured with all this heat, everything would start greening up too early so dragged it out of her's & back into mine. A unknown Veronica that I took a piece of in her yard last year had sprouts out the bottom but everything else still looked dormant. Gave them a drink & put them back to sleep.
On the otherhand, there is an explosion of green in the basement. The tropicals are waking up even more.

Ward I am very jealous! I hope you see lots of owls! I would be happy to see just one long eared and know that's what I saw. Last year a long eared owl was spooked by a stupid police helicopter and I thought he /she was a great horned owl. I didn't find out untill later that he was a long eared. I hope you see many saw-whets and barred as well. I would love to see a barred or even hear one.
Penny I hope you enjoyed your heat wave I was freezing all day today! Now it's warmer outside than it was this afternoon
