Male & Female Black-throated Mangos

First oneīs not at all sharp but what a wild tail. I tried to sharpen but I swear I didnīt fiddle with the color.

Those are excellent! The Mango has such a beautiful tail, both the male and the female.

I illustrated a Jamaican Mango for a field guide, and although otherwise somewhat different, the tail was very similar in color to your Black-throated Mango. Painting iridescent birds is always a challenge. The advantage of a painting over a photo is that you can show all of the areas of iridescence, even though in a photo it might be difficult to get them all to show up at once.

If I had time, I'd dig that painting up and scan it, but I'm busy trying to figure out what seeds to order.

Gorgeous photo, and the lack of sharpness just adds to it.

Thank you all for being very forgiving. I still want more shots of the male. He was harder to get than the female. Always perched facing away from the sun.
