Mexican Flamevine

I am wondering if hummers are attracted to a Mexican Flamevine? I have a vine that is just covered in orange flowers. If hummers like this plant I will be on the lookout for my lone hummer that I haven't seen since Nov.

The hummers have never gone to mine, but the butterflies just love it!

Well I sure was hoping that it would attract hummers. What about a powder puff plant. Do they attract hummers. I just planted one of those. I know that bees like this plant.

Marilyn on checking this plant out it looks like our mimosa trees that grow wild and they are a hummingbird magnet. When the mimosa's are in bloom around here my flowers don't have a chance. This is also the way it is when the Japanese honeysuckles start blooming.

MJ'
I have two different Calliandras and the hummers do use them which amazes me because I can't figure out how they are able to find the nectar in those little puff ball flowers.

Penny I am with you. How in the world do they get the nectar??? I know the the mimosa blooms just drip nectar. I get a mental picture of the hummingbirds just hovering under the blooms and letting the sweet stuff fall on thier tongues and licking it up.[linked image]

That sure seems like the easy way to do it LOL! My grandmother had a mimosa in her back yard and we didn't dare sit underneath it or we would be covered with sticky stuff. I watch my hummers last year but I honestly have yet to gigure out where that nectar is in the calliandras.
