Call me kooky, but I don't believe these three sightings in Oklahoma happened today. I would need to "see" it on video, or from a camera with a date stamp in the corner. The winds were in the hummers' favor yesterday before the winds changed early evening on the 4th to the north and northwest. These winds have been sustained even stronger down in Oklahoma than here too!
My belief is that the sightings might have occured yesterday, but weren't reported to Lanny til today or something else.
Based upon the videos we have of hummers not even being able to hold themselves up and hang onto our feeders against 15-20 mph winds for much longer than about 30 seconds to a minute before being blown off, so, I can't imagine hummers flying into a head wind twice as strong for any length of time. They would have to hunker down somewhere for awhile til the winds were more favorable. DH and I have been keeping notes of this for our records...especially since we should hopefully be seeing one within about a couple of weeks.
