Since we will be leaving here Saturday for a few days, I didn't want to take a chance of an early migrant stopping by for the night on his way northward and not finding much to sustain him as he spurred onward so I made enough nectar for two feeders, One will go out back and one will goout front early Saturday morning and with the temps staying in the 40's and 50's it should be fine until we get back. Now if I could just find someone willing to feed the squirrels so they will leave the feeders alone, I would be all set.

I thought you had those squirels by th tail!! Have they figured out your latest squirrel-proof invention??? Have a nice weekend, hope your going someplace dryer and warmer!
Pam, No problem with the squirrels reaching the suet feeder. They haven't managed to maneuver that yet but the do go after the sunflower feeder if I don't take their peanut butter and cracked corn toast out for them first thing in the morning. Today I will have to device a baffle between the gutter where the feeder is hanging from and the feeder itself. I could go buy one for $20 but I think I can make one for under $5. We are going down to Florida (Pompano) to spend Easter with my Father-in-law and I know that my sister in law will not take food out for the squirrels becuase mine run up to you when they see you coming with food and she would run (she is afraid of hummers) LOL!
Thanks Jana, we have been to butterfly world several times. It is fun to go into the enclosure and have them fly all around you. We probably will go as my father in law enjoys going there too.
Oh shoot Penny. Too bad I don't live closer, I'd come feed your squirrels for you. WHat a treat that would be, they sound very tame. Have a great holiday week-end in the warmth and sunshine.
Kathy
They aren't exactly tame but they do know a soft touch LOL! The one little guy is really funn because he will come up to me and sit back on his little hind legs and wait for a peanut. He did actually growl and chase off his tree mate last week when it was nice out and I was sitting down on the bench feeding him. I had never heard a squirrel growl like that before but he was pretty serious about the other one getting any of his goodies. LOL!

We will also get our feeders out this weekend. It's been very cold here and we even had some snow on Sunday. It's hard to believe that a hummer has already been seen in Madison, Wisconsin (we sure wish we knew who saw that hummer, but it's impossible to find out). We'll be ready, but are sure that our first hummer will not arrive here in the city until early May, but it's fun to try for an earlier one.

Bob I had forgotten about your squirrel proof feeder. Thanks for bringing it back up. After we get back and the planting is done I may just have to try a couple of these feeders.
Kathi it started snowing here last evening and it hasn't stopped yet. The roads are clear but it is so cold. I hope no hummers move into western NY until this cold snap passes.
