You're way better than me. I have about 2 dozen waiting to go onto the patio. And then there are the herbs which will have their own separate location this year.

Hey SUSAN,

Your so far ahead of planting schedules this year, what do you say you fly over to NJ and help me get all MY seedlings in the ground, build my Cardinal Vine structure, tie the vines into place, plant the tomatoes, peppers, brussel sprouts and asparagus sitting on the table here staring at me, oh yeah, spread the mulch! I really have NO IDEA how I got this all done last season. [linked image]

I suppose it all goes back to how much room you have for those pots. Im not a big pot person plants dont thrive well for me in pots. Its just as well as I dont have room for a lot of pots. If I have 4 or 5 pot plants thats a lot for me.

BTW Pam I will post my vine stucture on down the road as it gets going, if it does.

I don't do pots either. I tend to forget to water them.[linked image]

Pam,
Thanks for the confirmation...[linked image]
Sure, I'd be thrilled to help! Believe me, yeaterday I really felt overwhelmed when I lined up the plants in the garage that needed pots and were't going into the garden. In my head, back around February and March, I figured it would be about 5-7 pots...until I started to add onto the list without keeping track of the count. Then there were a few that I want to see make it to the end from when I grew them from seed...that I may or may not be able to squeeze into the garden...which actually depends on their outcome. Did that make sense? [linked image]
For example, I have one 'Black Cherry' and one 'Cherry Chief' I grew from seed...both of which are the lone survivors of when I sowed 4 of each. I'm really hoping they both make it to bloom. If so, they will have a home made somewhere in the gardens. I did empty 2 potted plants because I thought...enough is enough! I didn't want to toss the extra LIR and Subrotunda I had each in their own pots, so I'm giving my MIL the extra LIR and I managed to find a little room in the garden for more Subrotunda in another section of the garden. so now, I'm down to 15 pots...Whew!

The other pots have:

Cuphea 'David Verity'

Hamelia cuprea (Bahama Firebush)

2 Lantana montevidensis (variegated), one each of Salvia Mesa Rose and Purple, and a 'Coral Numph'

Cuphea schumannii

Justicia 'Thelma's Pink'

Passiflora caerule (hardy blue)

Milkweeds: Asclepias curassavica and 'Ice Ballet'

'Zowie Yellow Flame' Zinnia

'Black Cherry' Salvia

'Cherry Chief' Salvia

Pipevine - Virginia Snake Root (Aristolochia serpentaria)

Coreopsis 'tinctoria' I grew from seed, Hymenoxys scaposa (Plain's Yellow Daisy) and 'Daybreak Red Stripe' Gazania

'Moonshine' Yarrow

'Apricot Sprite' I grew from seed

Steve,
Well, my problem is I always seem to want more plants than I build garden space for...[linked image]

Dianne,
It's hard for me to forget to water the pots since in order to get to the hose, the pots are right in front of me! Truely though, I wish I could stop potting plants and be happy with what I can put in the garden.
There's always next year...[linked image]

Don't orry Susan, 17 is amateurish [linked image] I counted over 50 last year and THATS ALL I'm owning up to! The DOG had a hard time finding his way from the house to the grass. [linked image] I am going to scale that back this year (of course I am). At the end of the season the majority had to be washed with a bleach solution, dried and I stacked them one inside the other with cardboard in between. What the heck, it keeps me out of the bars! I think I can!

and shall I continue? ......and I cannot visit a plant nursery without buying at least one plant. I work in my gardens, and as soon as I'm showered and dressed I look outside and think......gee, wouldn't it be nice to enlarge that bed and stretch it over this way about 15 more feet and.....why look there's a spot over there I could put something else in....

It is quite addictive. Seems the more plants I have the more I want

During the summer it doesn't seem that I have that many pots but come fall when I have to bring them inside I have more and more to haul in. This year I aAM not bringing all those big pots inside. I will bring in the really tender ones and the ones that are difficult to propagate. The rest I will do cuttings in late summer and bring those inside.....I think I said the same thing last year and still ended up with a tropical jungle in my kitchen

I probably had 25-30 myself. This is looking 1 direction last year:

[linked image]

Ditto the other side of the patio. Also had 3 on each corner of the front & back walk, 4 next to the deck steps, 2 on the deck, 4 deck boxes, 2 huge one's on both sides of the driveway & 2 both sides of front stoop, along with taking care of aprx. 400' of landscape beds around my back perimeter of my yard. I just picked up grass clumps tonight & I can hardly move. Aspirin, here I come!!

No alice I am not bringing all these plants in next year. I am only planting what will fit in my little corner of the world to be enjoyed by me.
