Are there any difference in the nectar by boiling or use straight bottled spring water??
I use bottled spring water for the nectar taste.

Eldon
If you are using bottled spring water, you don't need to boil it first. Just make sure that all the sugar is dissolved before you fill your feeder.

How much sugar and water are you using?

Hi Eldon, I too use bottled water. We moved here not to long ago and heard from a couple of neighbors that there is a higher concentration of Arsenic in the ground water and we are on well water. I don't drink the well water ..my hummers ARE NOT going to drink it either. I do not boil my bottled water either as only make a quart at a time. [linked image]

Two years ago I gave my hummers only bottled water but not anymore I have a lot of hummers normally it gets too expensive for me to continue. No I do not boil water before feeding hummers. Once the hummer sticks his bill into the feeder it becomes contaminated anyway so no need to boil. If it makes it easier for you to dissolve the sugar then do it.
