Blooming cactus

I know that flower pictures should be of hummingbird flowers, but I couldn't resist sending this along. This cactus only blooms once a year for one day! It usually has 3-4 bloosoms, but this year outdid itself. Just a pretty picture - enjoy!

High Country Gardens has some cactus species that they claim are hummer attractive. Have you tried any of those?

Oh, and thanks for the photo. Hummer flowers or not, they're gorgeous! It's always so startling that something so lushly colored, vibrant, and delicate can come from a spiny plant like that.

Sorry I don't know the name of this cactus. There are many varities in our neighborhood which are just starting to bloom. I'll try to get some pictures of those as well.
