The Baltimore Herb festival was fantastic, with lots of plants of all kinds. I was happy to meet Rich Dufresne, and came away with this new salvia, among others. It has the most beautiful deep blue flowers. It is not hardy, but is supposed to be a fast grower, blooming best in spring and fall.Mine has a flower spike, so I'll post pictures soon.Rich said it was great for hummingbirds. I did manage to stay away from the extensive Salvia mexicana selection. The others I got include Salvia Betsy's Choice, Purple Majesty, Hot Lips, Salvia puberula Yucca-Do, Salvia gesnereflora, Salvia microphylla two-tone, Salvia Hadspen and some greggiis. I bought way too many plants, but I got a couple more David Veritys as well as Phygelius Cherry Ripe.

Putnam Hill nursery had lots of Black and Rouge which were going like hotcakes.

That S. macrophylla x sagittata is to die for! I didn't know it was in production yet. Many at the Salvia Summit last summer got to see it. There is a picture of it on one of Richard's web pages, along with other Salvia pictures from the Salvia Summit:

The page is slow to load because of all the Salvia pictures, but it is worth it!

Rich had a flat of these plants which disappeared in minutes. He said he wants to hear from gardeners about how it performs under different soil and temperature conditions. It is supposed to bloom heavily in spring and fall, but I am hoping for some summer flowers too. The only drawback is that it is not hardy at all.

Priya,
I waw drooling over your list of plants that you got. Too bad the nurseries around here don't have sense enough to have plenty of Black & Blue each year. Oddly enough when a nursery does have it they sell out almost immediately.
