I don't have my new plants yet but I have to say Richard is such a trusting soul. He shipped my order and I had not even paid him yet. I will say here that I did pay him with the method he suggested. No problem at all.
I am looking forward to getting my new plants and even though this is my first order I hope it is not my last. He has to be a great guy.

I had the pleasure of meeting Rich last month at the Baltimore plant sale. I did mention our forum. All the plants I got from him are doing well. I just wish I had more room to plant!
He did the same with us this season, although we've ordered from him several times before, so he knows us (but I still think it's amazing---this is unheard of in today's retail market!) Last year I had quite an extended telephone conversation with Richard (he called with a question about our order) and he's really a delightful guy.
We are trying several of his new salvias this year in addition to some old favorites (including Salvia greggii 'Cherry Chief' for Stan's memory garden.) We encourage people to support Richard whenever we can because we admire the work he is doing. The plants are small but very healthy and reasonably priced (where else on the web can you purchase a salvia for $3.50?) and he sends them in recycled packing materials, which we like. We have never had one of his plants die, so that must mean something. We'll let everyone know about the new salvias we are trying.

I ordered 4 greggii
Furman's Red
Wild Thing
Dark Dancer
Raspberry Royale
I already had Furman's Red but at his prices I ordered another one. I am trying to fill up a bed with greggii. They like my climate and are green all year round.
I also ordered:
Vanhouttii Burgandy
I wanted Dancing Flames but he did not have it in stock. Looking forward to getting the new plants.

Ive never met Richard but feel like I have as I have ordered from him. But mainly because I spent my time at garden web salvias before coming to this forum and Rich obviously hangs out there. I have to agree with everything said before.

I didn't order anything from him this year. A plant from last year that I don't think anyone else is growing that is working out well is Salvia dichlamys? The question mark is because the plant's real species is apparently uncertain. There is no question about the value of the plant, large red-orange flowers that the hummingbirds like. I guess it is a perennial in its native land, wherever that might be. Right now it is a bit floppy because of the long stems it grew on the porch over the winter that haven't been cut back. Last year one cutting was made, but this year attempts at new cuttings failed. Currently the plants aren't setting seed, maybe they will as summer progresses. Richard has a link to the plant with a write up for it and Salvia 411. Dichlamys did much better than 411 last year in my garden. I gave up on the latter after near total failure.
