In case anyone is wondering I split the grand marshall to have two plants. I noticed over at krogers tonight they had two different kinds of monarda outside for sale grand marshall and I dont remember the other one both had several clusters. One had dark pink and the other purple , I was tempted but didnt bite . $8.99 for gal pot.

Have you seen any hummingbirds yet on your Grand Marshall? Looks like your honeysuckle is coming into its own, now, after the aphid infestation. Mine is definitely doing much better now, too, and I saw a male visiting it a few days ago, his throat glittering in the late day sun. I couldn't get my camera on him quickly enough, and off he went.

The individual flowers on the Grand Marshall are interesting to me in that they look different from other Monardas I've seen. They seem more stubby, somehow. That raspberry color is pretty, but would clash with the orange and red tones I have in my garden. It would look good with blues and purples, though.

Kristin--- Yes my honeysuckle is quite loaded with clusters now and used most every day. As for the monarda I have not seen hummers use it so far, but I have them in a fairly secluded location from most of the rest of my plants so I cant view them as much as Id like. I have them in full sun to give them every chance to make it. Actually there is a black and blue plant within a few ft of it and is the closest plant to it.
