baby bird in trouble

I didnt know what kind it was but have been watching the action in my backyard , decided to just leave it alone for awhile whether It just fell out of nest or tried to fly and failed. I made the right choice as I saw mama blackbird come and feed the fledgling and tried to encourage the bird to fly but it cannot, it just hopped along near the fence where mama sits watching. With mama nearby I guess its best for me to let this drama play out as it will. Let nature take its course. What will be will be.

A couple times I've picked them up and put them to perch in the bushes, or in a sieve (for a nest) in the bushes, rather than let them take their chances on the ground overnight.

Mama and papa were very concerned while I was moving baby, and kept on attending it in the bushes after I went away.

Last year we had a chipping sparrow that left the nest a bit early and I scooted it over to one of the small evergreens. You can believe that mama was right there too chirping up a storm. It is hard to contain them once they are out of the nest unless they fall out while they are really young. I just don't even like finding them because we have so many hawks around here.

Steve,

As long as its feathered it will stay warm, Momma can coax it to a safe place.

On last check the little bird is no longer in my yard either it found safe haven or maybe it finally did fly at least thats what Im hoping for.

BTW Penny I did move the agas heather queen to a different spot as you suggested and I didnt notice any adverse effects from the transplant no wilting as they sometimes do, maybe it will really take off now.

Steve
I think that the Agastaches adjust quicker to transpanting because they don't need as much water as other plants to become established. My DH almost pulled one out of the ground yesterday when he was moving the ladder to clean out the gutters. I didn't notice it until this morning. I repositioned it and it seems just fine.
