Another bonus to adding Sand to planting areas

I discovered another plus to adding the sand/peat top soil to my beds besides improving the drainage in my heavy clay based soil.....very few to no slugs in those beds. At first I figured it was just because it has been so dry here this year until the past week when we have had more than enough rain to float every plant away. We are getting all the rain now that we should have had this spring and I have only found two or three slugs in the areas where I added this top soil to the beds. Normally I would have had a regular slug farm going with all of this rain but not this year....so far anyway.
