I had to go to the dollar store (Dollar Tree) to get some Spic n Span to clean my kitchen floor after I sprayed furniture polish on it and ended up flat on my face as I slid across the floor today. While I was there, I naturally had to walk around and check out everything. I found the cutest package of containers with lids that I thought would be perfect for seed collecting and or storage. There were 8 tiny containers for a $1.00. They probably hold about a 1/4 of a cup so I thought I would pass it along to those of you who have a Dollar tree store and collect your plant seeds.

Dollar Tree is the best! I'm not sure if I posted, if not I truely meant to, but in early spring they had gardeners gloves, the kind with latex in the fingers and palms and stretchy cloth on the topside. I bought about 8 pairs! You can't beat $1 for that quality in a gardner glove. I threw way a pair or 2 because with all our rain they were so muddy, I figured it wouldn't be cost effective to throw them in the washer. Now the "green" side of me thinks I'll hose em off good and see if they survive the washer. DT s also good for school supplies and oak tag and poster board (which I'll be needing for our community yard sale this month). Oh yeah and $1 mylar ballons.
I find lots of little goodies at Dollar Tree. You can't beat the price of their mylar balloons anywhere. I must have missed the gloves but they sound like a pair that I got at our plant swap which I have rinsed out and hung to dry.

I use containers found at Wal-Mart to collect seeds. they are in the Craft Department where the beads and stuff are, its like a tower of containers that screw onto one another, I think five come in a stack. Think they are for storing beads. They are clear plastic, the top one has its own lid, so can just collect seeds in the top one take it off, screw it to the bottom, and go on to the next type of seed. I got two pack so have ten containers. I think they were pretty cheap, lees than 2.00 for the 5. I guess they would be available at Hobby Lobby or a store like that also.
Flat on your Face" Penny are you alright? Sounds suspicious.
I have more reseeders up per usual , I usually only get lady in red doing that , but I have the lady and subrotunda up that I did not plant. I found some of these among weeds that I was getting ready to pull out. Good thing I know salvia leaves when I see them.
Remember that mysterious plant I posted pics of earlier that members said it was a salvia. Well, turns out is has black and blue buds on it now but the stem is on the limp side compared to others I have. I will post pics at a later date when they show themselves.
OH yes I am fine just still a little sore but that too shall pass. I have already putt a few of the small containers into use collecting seed of Coral Bells, and native columbine. I even managed to find three seeds on my Salvia g. Pink Perfection and hopefully more will follow

What part/area of Dollartree did you find these containers in? We looked throughout the store, but the best we could come up was a container for supplements/vitamins that had eight different compartments in it (we guess this could work too.)
Thanks and great idea (right now, I store my seeds in ziplock plastic bags with a slip of paper in them identifying the seeds.)

Hi Kathi,
I was using the little zip loc baggies also but these made it handy to take out side and drop the seeds and or pod right in. I found them over in the aisle with the plastic kitchen storage containers. If you can't find them I will be happy to pick them up here and send them to you.
