Jana if you are close to Ft. Morgan you should try to attend one of Bob's banding sessions. I understand it is quite an experience. I have never had the opportunity to go but one of our late members did go to the one in Knoxville a couple of years ago.

Ft. Morgan for me would be 8hrs,plus lots of stops with a 3 year old. I've been to Az to see Sherry Wms band. Dreaming of the Rockport Festival.

AHH! Well then you are already way ahead of me in that department. I understand that the Rockport Festival is really something to see also. One of our members who lives in Rockport opens up her gardens during the festival.

I was in WBU a few weeks ago and they told me about the banding in Knoxville. It's on my calendar. I'm so excited about going! I've never seen anything like this.

Carol,
I think you will really enjoy it. You will have to tell us all about it.

We are lifetime members of Bob and Martha's wonderful organization, The Hummer/Bird Study Group. They do great work and publish a terrific quarterly newsletter that now has color photos. We would love to visit their banding operation at Fort Morgan someday---we've heard it's quite an experience (we have a video actually which documents this experience and have talked with people who have been there.)

We have gone to the Hummer/Bird Celebration in Rockport/Fulton and that is a great experience and one that we would recommend that everyone go to once. You will not see much in terms of gardening (it is extremely hot and dry there and they are technically part of the desert/southwest) there but the numbers of hummers at the feeders are simply astounding. There are also other birding trips that you can sign up for, great programs, and a fun hummingbird products/arts and gardening fair. There are also banding demonstrations (Bob and Martha Sargent band there and it's worth meeting them!)
