I REALLY had a hard time choosing which pics to post. They are all so great! If anyone want I can report on a new thread in thumbnails, just ask! The gardens were excellant. Suchie and I spent at least 6 hours walking all over the 250 acres of a pure gardeners utopia yesterday (I'm get tired again just thinking about it again). We were pleasantly surprised to find so many hummer friendly plants and all of the gardens were so very well maintained, there was staff everyplace! Of course that made it harder to take cuttings, but I managed to grab a few of Agastache Rspberry Summer and a plant from Ecuador, Macleania pentaptera ericacrae. It's the ornge and green tubular shaped one in this thread. I have the names for most pics if anyone needs to know their names. The Haupt Conservatory housed to many unusual plants, and some we recognized. It really is a "must see" if your going to the city for a trip. We drove and it was fairly easy to get to (as long as we stopped yaking long enough not to miss important turns!)
Pam that must have been heaven and so cool that so many of us up here in the northeast have some of those plants and actually know about them thanks to the many knowledgeable hummer gardeners here on the forum.

What a beautiful place. Thanks Pam for taking the time to post all those lovely pictures. My feet, legs, and hips hurt just thinking about walking atound that place, and I needing something to drink and a place to get rid of it. This was much eaiser.
Thanks Sandy, I was wondering where everyone has been, the forum has been a bit slow. I think I found every restroom in the NYGB! I guess I can thank my lovely daughter for that gift. Glad you enjoyed the tour. There is a tram ride to each area of the garden so if your ever in the area.........
Pam, I'm glad you & Suchie got together & shared that great experience. Thanks for showing us your pics. It's easy to get "too busy" with my own gardening to get out and see the beautiful public sites that are around, as well as all the natural beauty that is available in my area.

Great pictures, Pam. It is always delightful to visit such gardens, and see mature specimens.
I am very glad I did not get the Thunbergia mysorensis. No way it would've been happy in a pot.
Wow! Beautiful pictures! In all the years that I lived within 30 miles of New York City,I never got to the botanical garden. The kids preferred the zoo. Now I go to the one in Montreal.
The Thunbergia mysorensis had both of us staring with jaws dropped! In the 15th (i think) pic down, the one with the statue of the 2 women in the middle, you can see this vine reaches across the whole conservatory. You can see the flowers hanging down. Cool plant.
It remined me of a plant I picked up at the Rutgers plant sale this year.

I had a plastic baggy with a wet paper towel all prepared and ready. I also had my clippers freshly cleaned and disinfected so as not to cause any harm, but I wound up using the old fingernail trick instead. I hardly think the cuttings were missed at all.
