I was doing some weeding when one thrummed right behind me - I could feel the wing beats - turned around - couldn't see it - went back to weeding - got buzzed again. It's not like there were flowers on my shirt - it's just green.
Then I saw THREE!.
Don't laugh, that's a record for my yard. The feeder was dry, for the first time ever, all two ounces (don't laugh.)
I refilled and hung a second feeder too, and one of them was checking me out so I froze - it came up about two feet away so close I could see the little spots on its throat, hovered back and forth, circled my head.
So there I will be, filling the feeders four times a day, waiting for one to drink while I hold the feeder.
It's wonderful to have a bold one in addition to my little chicken
