Here's a shot I captured after setting my camera up just before sunup this morning. (I guess they get up a lot earlier than I do!!!!!) Frank Janzen Mountain Center, CA Zone 9

Great shot. I guess I don't get up early enough to see that. The only way I know they were there is because the nectar is lower.

Is the fire blowing your direction? I was in Hemet yesterday but the fire was further east.

Farmer Steve: No, we got more smoke from the fire north of Los Angeles last week than we did from the Hemet fire. They did put a sign up at the intersection below us where HWY 371 meets HWY 74 letting people know that HWY 74 was closed between Mountain Center and Hemet, but they removed it yesterday evening around 6pm.

Frank, I do get up very early but am lucky if I see just one hummer at dawn! I would get up for that many even earlier, in a heartbeat - awesome!
