Has anyone tried this plant and had it over-winter sucessfully in zone 6b, or colder. The color is gorgeous and would make a nice addition to my mainly crimson and pink salvia collection.
Thanks Ward. That is a pity, I was hoping it would make it. It has a color that makes me drool.

Suchie, give it a shot and then share it with me. It might be good breeding material. With any luck it will cross with something hardier and who knows what we would get. Greggi types with yellow in their flowers, at least the ones I have tried, haven't been very hardy or very vigorous. I remember really like this one.
This was not hardy for me. It has glorious flowers and always stands out among the reds.

Thanks Priya. Not making it in your zone, surely means very low chance of survival here.
Ward, I always do my research about hardiness and then the heart wants what it does. The plant is available in Goodwin creek gardens for less $5 and if I place an order with them next spring I am sure to get it. This year I got Cherry queen and wild watermelon for them. The plants were small to start with, but are looking pretty good now.
Suchie,
Two great sources I have used for reasonably priced salvias are World of Salvias (Rich Dufresne) and Sandy Mush Herb nursery. The plants are small when they arrive but grow very well.
