Fattening up...

Here in Western MA, I saw a hummer this morning, visiting the salvias. Seems to be a chunky belly there!

And this one, while a terrible photograph, I like because he/she looks like he's saying, "INCOMING!!"

I do not have "regular visitors" that I know of, as so many of you seem to. It seems to be pure luck when I glance out the window and see the movement of a hummingbird. I know these chance sightings will be becoming more rare--so I'm enjoying them while I can!

thanks, jp! Yes, that Brazilian Blue Salvia is a beautiful color--it's the first time I grew it this year. That plant and the Salvia "Purple Majesty" are the most frequented by hummers in my garden this year.

I agree with JP, that is a great photo with beautiful color. My Brazilian sage didn't do as well this year. I will try cutting it back and see how it does for next year.

oooh, Penny, do you think it would winter over here? I thought it would be just an annual...

Emily you would have to overwinter it inside. I should have clarified that mine is in a container and I will cut it back before bringing it inside if I want to keep it or else take cutting now to root.
