Hi,

I have a potted plant that has set buds for more than two weeks and is yet to bloom. Is this common, or is it happening because I have it in a pot. I am really hoping it blooms before it gets too cold. Also, do they bloom in August, or September?

thanks,
Suchie

ISuchie - I have the Salvia Involucrata x Mulberry Jam and I love it!! This one has really done very well this year. Bloomed very early in July and has not stopped since. I think its because I got a plant from my nursery because last year I only had an overwintered one and that did not bloom until late August. I am sure yours will bloom soon. They are magnificent and the hummers use mine every time they are in the garden! Did you plant yours out in the garden or is it in a pot?

Thanks Carol.

Mine is in a pot. The plant has grown well and looks healthy, and so do the buds. However, the progression from bud to flower is agonizingly slow. My last hummer sighting was Sep 23, so I am not sure I'll see them use it, but I am really eager to see it bloom.
