Suchie,
Thank you so much for asking.
We had a very successful Public TV taping in our yard. It was a beautiful day, our garden was at its peak, and best of all, the hummers showed up in force. We certainly taught the host a whole lot about hummingbird gardening and the feeders (for example, she thought that red commercial nectar in feeders was safe and ok and that you should take them down at the end of August.)
They were so impressed with the garden that they decided to do the open and close of the show in front of our house! There were two other people interviewed (at a different time and place)----one talked about container gardening for hummingbirds and the other was a nursery owner talking about which plants in his greenhouse the hummingbirds came and used. All I can say is that those TV interviews look so easy and natural, but this is hardly the case. They were here at our house for almost five house for about 15 minutes of television! You have to rehearse the interview and then repeat it five or six times (in the hot sun!) In addition, we were dealing with construction and traffic noise that we had to work around. Anyhow, it was a fabulous experience and we can't wait to see it.
The bad news is that the program, "Wisconsin Gardener" can only been seen on Public Television if you live in Wisconsin. Also, it won't be on until June or July of 2010. We plan to burn a DVD of the program and would be very happy to send it to anyone who is interested free of charge. You can also purchase DVD's of these programs from their website for about $16.95. We'll keep you posted.
