Noemi,
Have you tried putting a bowl of strong sugar water a few feet away from the hummer feeder. I do that for the honey bees and it sure helps.

My Poor Hummers - What to Do

November 9 2009, 8:15 PM

Neomi

Oh my goodness. I thought that I had a bee problem. The only other thing that I can add is to get a feeder with bee guards and keep the outside area free of nectar. I know that everyone doesn't like them but perhaps you could leave this one and put up the other kind to give them a choice.

Good luck.

The bees have been terrible for us here in NE Texas as well. They are getting in our garage where we have our can crusher. Also my son's soccer games have been visited by a bunch of bees the past couple weeks. They are everywhere around here! [linked image]

I have mentioned this last year as well as on other lists as last year was my worst ever for having honeybees on my feeders and the reason that I put up a shallow bowl fo strong sugar water for the honey bees.

I talked to several local bee keepers last year because it was the first time I had a problem with them. I was told that many plants had been bybridized so much to develop more blooms, new colors and larger blossoms, that many of these plants are not producing the nectar that the bees need so they are searching for other sources hence our hummingbird feeders
