Wonderful pictures! The second one of the hummer is very unusual. I'll bet Penny picks it next.
You guys are clearly butterfly gardeners as well. I haven't seen a tiger on my buddleias all year. Are you getting many butterflies? I've had very few, but the numbers are starting to come up now--hoping for a good August and fall.
I think I saw that Swallow Tail's Grandpa a couple of years back. I'll try and post the pic.
What looks like eyes are actually antennas. They are red and would come out and look like horns at first and then wiggle around like they could sting. Totally harmless but the first time I saw one I thought it was something from Mars.

Thanks everybody for your comments and encouragements.
I must admit we aren't too Butterfly savvy really, but we do get quite many each year at our various flowering plants... several of which are favorites for the Hummingbirds as well. Black and yellow Swallowtails and Sulphers have been fairly plentiful so far this season, but the Monarchs seem to be scarcer than usual. We get Buckeyes and Painted Ladies later in the summer, and a few other species we can't name. We enjoy photographing them all even when we don't know what kind they are.
We're still seeing only adult Hummers so far btw... but we're looking forward to the juvies and hope to be back with some more photos of them soon too.
