I still have a hummingbird coming to my feeder, a female, just saw her this morning, temp is 44 degrees, by far the latest I have ever had one, southwest Oklahoma.

Doug,

Congrats! Are you able to determine which species your bird is? The temperature at present should not give any hummer any problems. Most North American species can tolerate temperatures down to the upper teens for overnight, if the temperature rises above freezing during the day. Just be sure to keep the feeder going as long as the bird is present.

I would recommend feeding a solution of 1 part sugar to 3 parts water to give the bird more calories for her efforts. Quite a few natural nectar sources have nectar sweeter than that. At any rate, enjoy while your special visitor is with you!

Thanks for joining and reporting your hummingbird. With those cold temps, she'll likely to loading up for a trip further South.

I am not sure of the species, we mainly have black chinned in this area. I looked her over good today with binoculars so I will do some research and try to let you know. She was still here late this afternoon. Low tonight is forecast for 42 degrees. The high today was 63. Thanks for the welcomes.
