They are selling small starter plants of it at several local nurseries here (why I don't know as it will probably not bloom in time to be of any use.

This one keeps coming up. It hates the east. There was one planted in the park 6 years ago that lasted 4 years, bloomed lightly once, and suffered the whole time.

A truly fine plant - if you live in the Mojave Desert. Otherwise it sulks and dies.

I have one in my sand bed that has survived three cold MN winters (and humid summers). I have yet to see it bloom, and it seems to weaken a little every year, but I don't have the heart to put it out of its misery. The leaves smell absolutely heavenly.

Salvia pachyphlla mojave sage

We tried it once in our best area and it withered and died without even blooming. It's beautiful, but not a salvia for the east or midwest, even if you create a raised bed. I guess some plants depend on dry, intense heat that we just don't have and we've had to learn that the hard way over the years. However, I would like to see this one in flower in person someday.
