Eagles Blank Vees to Finish Regular Season
February 10th 2008

Dan Clarke stopped all 29 shots fired his way, as the Kingston KIMCO Voyaguers fell 2-0 at the ends of the Bowmanville Eagles.

The Vees played a decent game on the whole, but couldn’t solve the Eagles net-minder.

“I really liked our game tonight and thought we worked pretty hard all night long. The only constructive thing I would say, is that when we have scoring chances, we have to bury them and for the second game in a row, we didn’t and we have to get better in that department,” said Head Coach Evan Robinson.

The Eagles opened the scoring when Spencer Wells squeaked a shot past Vees goaltender Mackenzie Ball, who got a piece of the puck, but fell in behind him, where Wells was able to tap it home. The game stayed that way, until Josh Shalla gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead midway through the third period and that would hold up for the rest of the night.

The Vees had several glorious chances to score on the night, none better than when Phil McIlhone slid a pass through to Andrew Marcoux for a partial breakaway, but Marcoux was robbed by the glove hand of Clarke.

Mackenzie Ball was the Vees first star stopping 26 of 28 shots fired his way,

Tyler Hill was the second star after hustling back to foil two Eagles breakaways in the third period

Andrew Marcoux was the third star with a very strong performance and several scoring chances throughout the night.

The Vees have finished the season with 69 points and second place in the Eastern Conference, which will give them a bye in the first round.

The second round can start as of February 22nd, which would tentatively see the Vees play their first home game on February 25th.

Stay tuned to the Vees website for further details as they become known.
