My Take

Predictions.

Markham vs Dixie ... Markham sweep.
Toronto vs North York ... Toronto in four.

Port Hope vs Lindsay ... Preds in four.
Peterborough vs Bowmanville ... Eagles and it goes the distance. I got to have one up set.

Aurora vs Orangeville ... Aurora has a three game walk in the park.
Stouffville vs Couchiching ... Stouffville in four.

Hamilton vs Milton ... Wings step it up in the playoffs, but lose one game.
Brampton vs Burlington ... Caps in four.

Being somewhat questionable on a bye format at the beginning I now can see the benefit and directly. It rewards the top 2 teams for their regular season success. I know in the Dukes case it will provide a much needed rest after a heavy closing schedule compounded with making up snow postponed games. Dukes will be ready and very hard to take down given home ice advantage throughout the East. The man will have them ready and roaring! Go Dukes Go!!

"The man will have them ready and roaring! Go Dukes Go!!"

And who is the man , Dukester ?

Roaring? I thought that was the Aurora Tigers' rally cry.

The playoffs are going to be fun, aren't they?

As trivia goes, did you know that your Wellington Dukes are the only repeat regular season champions from last year?

Vaughan did not repeat in the South.
Brampton did not, in the West.
Aurora did not, in the North.

Kiss of death or a good sign?

Don't play me Wayjoy, we all know who the man is, as does Hockey Canada. Yes the playoffs should be the best and closest in recent memory. I would like to see a Vees & Dukes final.

I don't think so...

As memory serves me I believe the Eagles won the East last year. Both finished with 82 pts. Eagles had one more win than the Dukes.

Actually this is the 1st year in 5 years that Aurora has not finished in 1st place in the North. The Tigers finished 1st in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 and if I'm not mistaken, I think they also finished 1st in 2003, not sure though. Quite a record to say the least.

It will be interesting to see how they make out this year after an unfamiliar 3rd place finish.

You are correct, DefenceWins

the Bowmanville Eagles, did indeed, win the regular season East last year.

Another proof positive, that a first place finish means little, when the second season rolls around.

Actually, 2 years ago Bowmanville finished 1st in the regular season and won the East Division Playoffs and the year before that Port Hope did the same thing.
