That was a good read. It shows just how harsh the business of junior hockey can be.

I states in the Article that Omaha paid him $3000.00 up front and $800.00 a month. Grande Prarie paid him $ 1000.00

Is this not a direct violation of NCAA rules and league rules????

As he said in the article, it was paid under the table. Also, he never went to an NCAA school.

IF A TEAM PAYS A PLAYER FOR HIS SERVICES IT DISQUALIFIES THAT TEAM FOR NCAA SCHOLARSHIPS, IT ALSO COULD AFFECT THE LEAGUE

You guys need to work on your reading comprehension.

It says he was PROMISED the money under the table and in the end, never saw a cent.

yeah, that's not the part where it's under the table. It's a little different than $3K up front and $800 a month plus a part time job.

Regardless of that bonus, he's not on a NCAA scholarship so the point is moot.

I think if there is a NCAA violation of this nature, everyone on that team is disqualified.

Pretty harsh but ...

CAN'T STOP THE PUCK

If you were aware of the rules in theCJAHL, USHL,and the NAHL, any player that recieves compensation, is offered compensation for his playing on the team automatically disqualifies the team and possibly the league from NCAA eligibility. This is a rule and it does happen.

is the epitome of courage. I am reminded of a quote that fits Sean to the letter.

The real problem is...

February 14 2008, 6:52 PM

The NCAA clearing house, if it is shown that players on a team are being paid as professionals the entire team is "tarred with the same brush". I would not want to be the player or organization that dashes a young mans dream in the pursuit of the all mighty win at all costs. Schollies have been pulled for alot less reasons. If you feel that your organization is bending the rules or totally disregarding them make a call to someone you can trust and get some legal advice because your schollie and your future could be at risk!!!!
