| - The Kingston Memorial Centre has seen its' last junior game by the O's Frontenacs.
I had the priviledge of watching last night. The "M" centre was packed last night for the closing night's festivities. Many former alumni players were on hand, last night, to make the grand old lady's goodbye a memorable one.
Former Kingston Canadian, Raider and Frontenac players graced centre ice all with descriptive introductions of their contributions over the years.
When it was all over, the Fronts came away with a well-earned 6-4 victory over the London Knights. Ironically, that was the same score the former Kinston Canadians beat the Oshawa Generals back on opening night in 1951.
The grand old lady has served this community well, for over 50 years, but the Fronts are about to open a new era in the new K-Rock Centre downtown February 22.
There is both an excitement and a bittersweetness for many of the Fronts' faithful who have endured some tough times on the ice the last few years with their team.
But the Fronts did it up big last night with a classy exit.
And last, but not least, the Fronts even introduced their long time trainer and bus driver, Bobby Clark. No, not the Bobby Clarke of Philly lore. But just our own Bobby Clarke who happens, also, to be the driver for the Vees.
It was a great night.

Wow, the end of an era is always somewhat sad. The M Centre has seen thousands of great teams and players. I saw there an NHL game, the Kingston Aces, the Kingston Candiens etc. Great atmosphere. I also played there many a time in my own career against the former Jr Frontenacs. Will never forget the place. |

In many respects, the tiny Dukedome will be similarly regarded by many Duke fans.
Onwards and upwards.
I am keeping my fingers crossed for a Duke/Vee East final.
