Game started quick as JC were up 4-2 in the first half of the first period. JC came out at the end of the first period with a score of 4-3 after a goal by Cassiani near the end of the first.
Buzzers tied the the game in the second with the only goal that period.
JC came out ready to win in the third with an unassisted goal by Wetering in the first half, but in St. Mike's style, they came to tie it with five minutes to go in regulation. Jared Docking scored his hat trick goal at 16:10 to give the JC a 6-5 win over the Buzzers!!

Notes:
Docking - 3 goals
Wetering - 2g/2a
Gershon - pulled during the first after coughing up the lead (did return)
Koziel - not the greatest game I've ever seen - missed a few really obvious things but for the most part did an alright job and let the boys play.

I have said all year that the Buzz needed to get a GOOD second goalie, in case Gershon got hurt. But, in truth, considering I've never had faith in his ability to go one on one with a shooter (I've never seen him hold his own in a shoot out), now I'm really starting to have a sinking feeling.
The guy has had excellent offensive play in front of him all year. This covered up for his inadequacies. Fact is ... he stunk tonight. The Buzzers got 5 goals tonight. That should be enough for a win on any given day. They out shot the JC, and in my mind out chanced them too. If things don't turn around quick ... Gershon might just be the achilles heel.

Perhaps this is a serious flaw in the St. Mikes structure. Get one goalie ... and ride him to ridiculous lengths.

They had a truly awesome season this year. They ended up ranked in the top ten teams in Canada for Junior A. But they might lose in the first round to a team which probably doesn't rank in the top 50.

Another thought ... another achilles heel.

Cassidy Preston. The Buzzers had a power play tonight in the third. A chance to tie up the game in the last ten minutes. Cassidy gets slighted by a JC player and he goes on a tirade to 'get back' at the guy. And takes a penalty. A stupid bonehead move. If you are trying to even up a playoff game you suck up the bad hits and get revenge on the scoreboard. Whe Cassidy plays smart he is one of the best on the team by far ... but he can also be the guy who makes the bonehead selfish move that you look back at later and thing ... "what would have happened if that player had been a selfless one who could take the hits for the team?"

Its a sad state of affairs.

JC were outshot in both of their wins.... last night 44-35 and Tuesday night 44-32.

I bet Gershon will be feeling REAL nervous going into tonight's game.

There is no substitute for good goaltending in the playoffs. It will make you or break you.

giving credit where credit is due

In all this and a 2-2 series tie presently, no one seems too willing to give the Junior Canadiens any kind of credit. For doing what it takes to make this one, a competitive series, no one thought would be possible.

We have Cassidy Preston and Cory Gershon taking some hear for the current predicament that the Buzzers find themselves in.

Then we have the JC's goaltender being front row center as the sole reason the JC's are in it this far.

No one mentions that the JC's did not pack it in when they could easily have done so when the series was 2-0 for the Buzzers.

It is this kind of determination that makes the playoffs worth the price of admission every single year. It may not be the same teams providing the underdog thrills, but this is the Toronto Junior Canadiens chance to bask in the glow for now.

Stay tuned.

Isn't it funny...

For the team with the LEAST amount of PIMs in the regular season, thus far (into the third) JC are the ONLY ones to be getting anything called in the game? Weird....

I agree with an earlier comment. Give the Jr. C. goalie a lot of credit. He has played awesome. I saw him in the last game with NYR too, so I can speak for more than just the tilt with the Buzz. Who knows how the Jr. C would have done with him in net for the first game with the Buzz.

But! To be fair ... in the game last night, where the Buzz clawed back a win, it was the Jr. C. goalie who looked frail in the last ten of the game.

After all ... they are just kids.

It is all about goal tending in the play offs to be sure.
