not that it's right to assault any kid, this is NOT the best pick for McCarthy! haha. Then again he's not always been the poster boy for good choices.

Re: What happened in Huntsville

March 1 2008, 2:48 PM

wow what a load of BS that is. the melee at the end of the game was caused by macintosh butt ending someone on the bench as the game ended. mccarthy only made physical contact with huntsville players by grabbing their jerseys and pulling them back away from the stouffville players who were wanting to fight after the game was over. how would macintish have lost teeth if he wears a cage and it was still clearly on the whole time the melee was happening?

It was the guy on the grassy knoll

March 1 2008, 2:59 PM

Strange rumours. I'll tell you what I saw. Game was very rough. Stouffville likes to use their sticks. Lastest style in the otters dressing room is facial stiches. Almost everyone is sporting one. As for the finish last nite, averyone was skating back to thier benches when a spirit player (I believe was McIntosh) suddenly turns around and dives into the group of otters returning to thier bench for the victory celebration. All hell breaks loose. A group of spirit players start slaming thier sticks into the otters bench and a melee of players started squaring off. Its amazing that Black and his linesmen were able to control it. As a matter of fact they would not have been able to control it if it were not for the otter coaching staff who held the players back. As far a McCarthy is concerned, the attack on the spirit player is bullS$%&^#%^%. He was too busy tring to control his players. Talking to the coaching staff after the game, nothing was mentioned about the aledged punch. I personally never saw it. Should be an interesting game tomorrow. GAME ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: What happened in Huntsville

March 1 2008, 3:31 PM

as much as i hate to say it i believe something happened with some of our less intelligent teenage 'fans' (i.e. the kids that come to the arena to stir **** up). that is why the police were there. kind of like at the spirit games when there are upwards of 8 cops at each one this series so far. the police were not there for anything to do with the otters players, coaches of staff. puckpigs account of what happened is accurate. black had lost control of the game and somehow they kept everyone apart at the end.

"a spirit player (I believe was McIntosh) suddenly turns around and dives into the group of otters returning to thier bench for the victory celebration. All hell breaks loose. A group of spirit players start slaming thier sticks into the otters bench and a melee of players started squaring off."

If Puckpig is correct, this is the sort of thing a player should never do. When a game is over, it's over. Inciting the other team this way seldom gets the result you hoped. In fact, it generally incenses the other team enough to give them a competitive boost.

Never, do you go into another team's bench area. It really is the height of stupidity.Reserving your energy for the play on the ice is the best means of showing your chagrin. The series is not over yet.

The spirit...

March 1 2008, 7:27 PM

has been carrying their sticks very high throughout this series. The offenders tend to be players wearing full face masks. The lateset offender was werek on pinkney.
The crap that happened at the end of the game was instigated by several spirit players. As has been stated earlier the coaching staff of the otters did everything in their power to stop the situation.
A player from the spirit speared a child (10 year old) in the stands upon leaving the ice...thus the poor behavior of the fans.Security was in the area of the incident and did their best to protect the balance of the spirit players for the unfortunate action taken by one of their own upon leaving the playing surface at the end of the game.

Re: What happened in Huntsville

OK "CSTR", what's with the personal slam of coach Tom McCarthy!!

"he's not always been the Poster Boy for good choices".

If you are referring to Tom's personal problems in his past life, and I'm sure you are, then you should be "horse whipped". To attack a person for something that he has paid for dearly is a cheap shot and totally uncalled for. Tom's past is over, he is using his unfortunate past experiences to help young kids so that they do not fall into the same pitfalls that he did. What a low down despicable comment against a person who has turned his life around and is helping others. Your comment about McCarthy makes my "slit his wrists" comment look like a phrase from Mary Poppins. As a friend of McCarthy's, I demand that you retract your statement and apologize to everyone on this Forum.

Or better still why don't you say it to McCarthy's face, if you have the guts.

Re: What happened in Huntsville

March 2 2008, 1:14 AM

SMC57,

First, I never objected to the "slit your wrists" comment. My issue came when you started in on the stereotypes of the religious beliefs of others. Your comment was stupid, but I never posted a word.

Second, what about my McCarthy comment needs apologizing? I simply said he wasn't the poster boy for good choices. That's pretty broad, sure and of course it's in the past, I'm not clairvoyant, but just because it's in the past doesn't mean it's gone and long forgotten. After all, isn't it generally accepted that those who don't study history are bound to repeat it? Then again, IF any allegations are true, what have I said that's wrong?

Then again, of course you'd object to what "I" say and totally ignore the posts accusing him of punching a player or the post accusing a player of spearing a kid, all jokes to craigshaw45 aside.

"Why do so called tough players always wait until after the whistle/buzzer to start stuff and act tough? But never during the actual play?"

There is a perfect saying I heard in this regard, laxxdaddy .It goes something like this;

He's always there to start the riot but is never around when they make the arrests.

As for coach McCarthy, I see no reason to bring his personal life into our discussions.

Time to step back, everyone, breathe in, breathe out, breathe in,breathe out.

Re: What happened in Huntsville

March 2 2008, 11:10 AM

Do any of you guys know anything about Tom McCarthy's personal problems of the past? If you do then you know how heinous and utterly despicable CSTR's comment was. If you don't then stay out of it and stop with the comments.

CSTR gets all up tight about a comment referring to Baptists, again considered a figure of speech, since Baptists preach a very conservative way of life. If I got uptight for every "joke" figure of speech regarding Catholics, I would be in an asylum. My next door neighbour is a Baptist Minister and my friend. I kid him all the time about the Baptists and he kids me about my Catholic faith. I call him a "tea toteler" and "Holy Roller" he calls me a "fish eater", "left footer" etc. CSTR jumps all over me for my "joke" comment about Baptists yet finds nothing wrong with slamming Tom McCarthy about his unfortunate turn in his past life. Tom McCarthy has beaten his problem and is helping many unfortunate others, through his work with youngsters and teenagers.

If CSTR had any "culliones" and a bit of class, he would apologize, on this Forum, to a fine human being and one of the best coaches in the OPJHL, an ex OHL'er (drafted ahead of Wayne Gretzky as a Junior) and an ex NHL'er, but don't hold your breath, CSTR sees nothing wrong with his comment, but then most people that are wrong don't.

Note: In my day the word Baptist was a "figure of speech" used to describe a very conservative person, didn't drink, didn't smoke, didn't party etc. One of my Jewish friends is a very conservative individual, he jokes all the time about being a "Baptist Jew".

A final note, all the comments that I have been raked over the coals for on this Forum, don't even come close to CSTR's slamming of Tom McCarthy.

Amazing how I can get an essay out of you for saying someone is not a poster boy for good behaviour. I don't think Michael Vick is one either? You know those two have something in common, eh?

I haven't lied about anything and I haven't pointed out any details about this individual. On top of that, any idiot with a computer can easily use google and find out more. It's what I did and was totally shocked by what I read.

Get your head out of your arse! Your internet warrior attitude is downright tedious.

Also, what exactly are you inferring were I to mention his past to his face? Will he beat me up? What do you see being proven by that? Or, do you just want to find out who I am?

Let's all move on to the business at hand

March 2 2008, 12:26 PM

folks. The playoffs.

Emotions can run high and a seemingly harmless comment can often lead us to places we all need not go.

The playoffs are the best time of the year. Let's enjoy the hockey. We recognize that we are all here (coaches, fans, owners, GMS and officials) because it really is , the players show .

This forum is what it is too. It would be nothing without its' contributors. You are all valued more than you might think.

As Pepsi has said, what you write may be read by young and impressionable minds.

Now, for the rest.........of the story (playoffs).

Oh my, getting a little touchy are we??

Be interesting to see what Craigshaw will have to say about your comments on McCarthy's life today.

Why in hell would I want to find out who you are!! I deal with jerks like you every day I don't need another "a**hole" in my life.

Go to Stouffville today and enjoy the game with your buddy "Luch", another beauty that was going to have me punched out by Corey Fulton after my comments about his fight with Thorburn of the Tigers last year.

What I like about you guys is that you always chase the "bait" and fall for the "hook" time and time again.

Tell me something, did you guys ever play this game or are you just professional "sh** disturbers"??

When you go to Stouffville today, convey your feelings about McCarthy to Craigshaw, would love to know his reactions.

luckylucho you have absolutely no class. none at all. your comments about tom are rediculous. how would you know whether or not smc knows tom or not? and your comment about nothing changing makes my blood boil. tom is a class act. one of the most popular coaches in the league and the players on his team think the world of him. he goes the extra mile for anyone and everyone he knows and would give you the shirt off his back. you have no class your comments are a joke and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Well said Craigshaw, and bye the way "luch" one of my best friends for the past 45 years happens to be Tom McCarthy's Godfather, so don't tell me about McCarthy, I've forgotten more than you know.

Tell me something "luch", why do they call you "lucky"? My friend has a dog named "lucky", he has 1 testicle, now they call him "not so lucky". Just wondering.
