Buzzers VS Waxers In South FinalMarch 3 2008 at 12:01 AM | SMC57 (Login SMC57) Registered Members |
| - The Buzzers advanced to the South final tonight winning their series against the Jr Canadians 4-2. Will the next round against the Waxers be a 7 game hockey series or a 7 round boxing match. With Rory Smith due to come back for the 1st game of the series, it may be the latter, I hope not but when these 2 teams meet it's like putting a Mongoose and a Cobra together. Whatever the outcome, you know that this series is going to be filled with everything.
Can the Waxers topple powerful St Mikes? I think they can, coming off a 4-0 sweep of the Vipers they have to be pumped and will come out "shooting" against their arch rivals. Look for one helluva series here, one that could go the distance. |

Rory may be dressed, but will he see the ice? In the regular season against Markham he did not get a regular shift and in my guess played 5 minutes a game at most. In the playoffs won't that average go down? Therefore where is his impact? Doing stupid things to give the Waxers a powerplay?
I know thw Buzzers play with a lot more courage with Rory in the lineup, but if he's not on the ice then I don't see the impact. On top of that the Waxers just played 4 very disciplined games and I can't see that changing. The dislike between the Vipers and Waxers is almost as bad as it is between the Waxers and Buzzers. The Waxers are a focussed bunch and I can't see Rory Smith distracting them from their goal.
Just my two cents for whatever they are worth.

I thought Smith was now commited to playing lacrosse?
Will he be playing both hockey and lacrosse until the Buzzers are eliminated? |

Since when do the Waxers fear Smith? The key is can they keep their cool while dealing with him when he does get a shift.

The game will be played on the ice and the players will decide it. Heart will be the deciding factor.
Yeah, I know I cheaped out with that. I'll put something a little better together later.

waxers coaching is so much better than st mikes and in the playoffs when discipline is required that asset is magnified. the only thing smith will do is try and pick a fight with the best player on the waxers to get him out of a game early. let him make a fool of himself and dont lose your cool and hes nulified. waxers in six. |

ezzig do you know something we dont? harding hasnt seen much ice in the playoffs and even then in the regular season he only got 4 points in 26 games? his only upside is his 7 5-minute majors but well over 1/2 were with any-comers and not a 'designated' tough guy that might pose a challenge. kinda shaky stats to be throwing out the 'harding will play' bit when its clear from his game time in the playoffs there isnt much confidence coming from the bench in his puck skills. enlighten us?
i would expect cornachia to take the high-road and skate his players. i dont think he needs less than that.

Harding was suspended. Last time I checked that means the players is unavailable to play.
Since when is a defenseman judged by the amount of points he gets? The guy plays a regular shift and is a stay at home defenseman. He plays within himself and does not force the play.
Thanks for coming out.

thanks matty i like to play. just going over the bits here. in the run-up to the playoffs harding was healthied (i presume) vs vaughan on feb 2 then on feb 8 vs north york he was assessed an instigator penalty (not his first this year for sure). he then sat out 8 games before seeing action again this time in game 4 vs vaughan. his instigator in north york was his 3rd which is four games (by the suspension chart on the oha site). what about the other four? and three instigators in one season...doesnt sound too responsible either. my point here is im not too sure coach cornachia should put that out there.

"The following are MINIMUM suspensions that shall be imposed for infractions, which occur in all O.H.F, O.H.A, exhibition, league and playoff games during the current playing season for junior and senior competitive hockey. Note that these suspensions are over and above any imposed by H.C rules."
Done bashing Harding yet? Come watch some more Waxer games and maybe you'd know more of the facts. The kid is a true teammate and understand what a team is all about. Apparently you seem to think he's a lose cannon who can't play hockey. Glad I don't have to rely on your scouting abilities.
Done with this topic. You've made me laugh enough.

to be clear i wasnt so much bashing harding as opposed to the certainty with which ezzig said harding would be playing. when from the season record it was far from certain he would see games either though scratches, or otherwise. your suspension count is still heresay and probably will remain as such since our league never discusses suspensions. ever ever ever. but yes, third time is 4 games..and a league hearing? 8 games for instigating seems harsh and unheard of.

Park your car at Yorkdale or at Wilson Subway and then take the subway down.
StMike's is right at the StClair West subway stop. It's a ery short subway ride.
No stress involved with whether or not parking can be found. |

PM 87. Harding did get 8 games for his third instigator. each subsequent suspension is double of the previous. his 2nd instigator was 4 games, therefore his third totaled 8. Thats why he was only eligible for the 4th game vs. vaughan. its going to be a grinding series with the waxers coming out as the south champions. |
