Effective immediately and for the remainder of the 2008 Playoffs the St. Michael's Buzzers are pleased to announce that they will now accept all 2007-2008 OPJAHL player passes (including players of eliminated teams) for admittance to all Buzzers home playoff games at St. Michael's College School Arena.

Please note however that we have been alerted to teams making copies of their team passes (either Executive/Coach passes or player passes) and as such the Buzzers will require government issued photo-id to be presented along with all OPJAHL (Exec/Coach/Player) passes.

We look forward to more teams joining our initiative in supporting the players in the OPJAHL and officially announce a policy to accept all current season player passes.

Buzzers Announce Player/Exec Pass Policy

How would you know they weren't honouring the passes? are you a team affiliate with a pass? why would you care then if they weren't being honoured because most likely the people involved would get reimbursed for their costs, if that were the case. No harm no foul. I find it hard to believe that any team or school or whatever would have someone so negative and small minded like you on their staff!

Is it really an iniative when other teams have already been doing it? I don't post this to ruffle any feathers, but why can't St.Mike's post something along these lines.

"St.Mike's hockey organization would like to apologize for any past mistakes we have made in handling of team executive passes. We take full responsibility for any mix ups that may have happened in the past regarding these passes and promise that we will take action that it does not occur in the future.

On another matter, we are proud to announce that for the rest of the season we will honour player passes. Players work hard all season long and deserve to be able to come and cheer on their fellow competitors through our their journey...."

Instead it seems that St.Mike's wants to take credit for being the first to start up this type of effort.

Can't see how a photo ID is going to stop forged passes. All passes have the person's name on it. So, I forge a pass, put my name on it, show my ID which verifies my name and face, get approved at the gate and walk in. What is my photo ID going to prove?? Am I missing something here?

I think that St Mikes are going a little too far in this whole issue. The regular league passes state very clearly that they are good for all league and playoff games, so I don't know what the problem was. I believe this whole thing started as some people holding regular team passes were denied entry to the Buzzer playoff games, which was in direct controvention to what is stated on the OPJHL passes.

The only thing that would be an issue is that teams do not have to accept player passes from those that have been eliminated from play. Whether you choose to accept them or not becomes a management decision. In Aurora they have always allowed all passes including those of players that have been eliminated from play.

It'll eliminate copied passes, but not forged passes, unless you notice the same number from the same team pass coming through 5 times. It sounds nice and official to ask for "government issued ID".

By the same token, good for them to finally allow eliminated players to come in. Not every team is that generous. cough S*****ville

Its unbelieveable how much some people will go out of their way to hear themselves type and be haters. The Buzzers admitted their mistake a while back with M71 saying he'd fix it. They did. Now he went out and did even more to extend this to players of teams that have been eliminated. Sounds to me like this is the guy we want out there looking out for fans, players and more. Wingfan, SMC57 and those like them are the ones that just harbour bitterness, resentment and will never be happy (I can't help but think of the movie "grumpy old men"). SMC57 is do embittered that he has to chime in on something unrelated to him little tabbies while he is on vacation.
Keep up the good work M71 and those like him and looking forward to a good series. Many of us appreciate what the good people around this league do.

Don't get excited "bluemax44", nobody is taking anything out on M71, he does a great job and kudos to him for clearing up the pass situation at the Buzzer games. I have never had a problem at the Buzzer games with my pass, maybe it's because I'm an alumnus and a contributor to SMC and they know me.

Obviously, it appears there was a problem or else M71 would not have intervened to clear it up as he has done. As far as getting involved with the issue when I am away, I'm involved with SMC 12 months of the year, so why wouldn't I get involved on an issue that was reflecting badly on the Buzzers. I may not agree on everything that SMC and the Buzzers do, but on this issue I felt that the Buzzers were in the wrong and I'm glad that M71 was able to bring the issue to a satisfactory conclusion.
