All Star Goalies & The Playoffs

I've found it odd that only 2 of the 6 goalies recognized at the All Star game are having any success at all in the playoffs.

The North-West team featured Jeff Dawson, Matt Milne and Scott Greenham and the South-East team featured Jake Fischer, Cory Gershon and Michael Iafrate.

Both Dawson and Milne had first round byes and were sent packing in one round while Greenham is going strong with the Oakville Blades.

Gershon had a first round bye and looked shaky at times against the JC, but pulled it out in the end and gets to play another round, this time against the Waxers. Iafrate and Fischer haven't played a post-season game.

Intersting.

Just pointing out that the 3 N/W all star goalies originally were Dawson, Greenham and Aaron Barton of the Tigers. Barton had to drop out of the all star game because of injuries and was replaced by Matt Milne of the Hurricanes. Barton's Tigers are still in the hunt for the North Championship.

Question.... I was told that the Vipers dropped Iafrate to pick up Lombardi because both were overagers and Iafrate was considered expendable.
Is that true?

Where did Iafrate go?

Whatever the reason ... it seemed bizarre for Vaughan to lose Iafrate after he played so well for them for so much of the season.

Was reading on the Dukes site that Karpowich was sick at the beginning of the year, so maybe that is why he wasn't selected to the all-star team. There is no doubt that Wellington has a tandem in between the pipes that are both deserving of all-star honors!

Iafrate and the coach ...not pals.

Yes ... I have hear elsewhere that Iafrate did go home. Apparently he'd just had enough of his coach. I also heard that he was not allowed to seek another team to play for. That makes sense. The Buzzers would have loved to have a back up for Gershon that is as good as Iafrate. Too bad for Vaughan. The coach brought in players all year to make his team ready to take on the Buzzers and then he loses the one guy who might have ensured they had a chance to play them.
