Score Does Not Tell it Al

Tonight the Buzzers came into Markham and took away a 4-1 won win in game two, but the scoreboard does not tell the whole story. The Waxers out shot and out chanced the Buzzers and had at least 4 goal mouth scramble where it looked like a sure goal, but the puck would just not bounce their way. Lots of big rebounds all night and the Buzzers did a great job collapsing down on them to limit the Waxers to really get good second chance shots. I still think the Buzzers got some nice bounces to assist them .

Other story of the game was the Buzzers tremendous penalty kill that did not allow the Waxers much breathing room all night on the penalty kill. Not much room and often times the Waxers would move the puck far too slow to be effective.

In the end it was a tough loss for the Waxers and I feel they were the better team tonight, but sometimes being better doesn’t always win you the game. Hopefully, tomorrow night they will fire the puck on the net more rather than looking to make that extra pass. The Buzzers do a great job collapsing on defense and the more time you take to shoot the puck the more time you are given.

You can say that the score doesn't tell it all in this game. But the same could be said about the first game in this series. Fact - in the second period a Buzzers goalie let in some soft goals in that game. If not for a few weak goals let in ... a goal called back because the ref didn't see who knocked who into the net on a rush ... and that game could easily have gone the other way. The score showed that. It was close.

So ... is this series one sided? No.

But I don't buy the intro to this thread. 4 Goals to 1. The scores says one thing. One team was able to put the puck in the net and the other couldn't. You can try to find some solace in the shots on goal ... but the score still says that those shots just weren't effective.

To be fair ... Markham has a damn good team. I'm not about to say anything else. They just need to control their hot heads. At the end of the game when they were obviously not going to win some of these hot heads started to get chippy. Its best to play like every moment left is an opportunity to win. That is a winning attitude.

Either team here could win the series. But the Buzzers have one advantage ... they have sent Markham to summmer vacation 3 consecutive years preceding this tilt.

Interesting statistic: the Waxers have twice as many 87's and 88's than the Buzzers. Yet the Buzz kids won the South in the regular season.

mattyb - i think some wax is covering your rose coloured glasses. wax had their full lineup last night now that scheu left enough time to get to the game and hudes has recovered from the flu (both as reported on yorkregion.com) but put in a much poorer performance as a team than they did Friday.

buzzguy - all nice stats but guess what? the only stat that matters is what you do today. the past seasons and the regular season win mean nothing. in hockey it what you do in the game at hand, not what your team did three seasons ago.

I agree that they did not put in as good an effort as game 1, but my statements above still stand. They outchanced, outshot and they lost. It happens.

Buzzguy,

Nice to see your making more comments about game 1 after your team won game 2.

I bet their were a whole lot of Buzz fans breathing a sign of relief last night.
The Buzzers got outchanced but still won. Probably the first and last time that will
even happen this year with the goaltending pair that they have.

Oooops ... I think game three was a repeat of game two. The Buzzers were outchanced, outshot ... and ... oh my god they won again! Damn! What is going on when a team continues to get out chanced and out shot and they keep winning? I guess it must be what is going on at the other end of the rink.

Something smelled Rank in the Markham net tonight!

Sorry to spoil your pity party boys ...

And ... I'm not just quoting what happened three years ago to make my point.
I'm quoting what happened two years ago ...
And what happened one year ago ...
And what is happening now.

Markham just can't seem to beat the Buzz.
In a 6 game regular season square off.
And especially in the playoffs.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You know ... contrary to you guys, I can admit it when my team plays badly. The only reason Markham won game one is because they were the better team. It wasn't because Rory Smith ran a goalie, or that the Refs called a bad game. No. It was because Markham was the better team on the ice that day.

I can admit it when my team is the worse of two. Can you? (A friendly smile inserted here)
