What have folks heard about the following rumours that I have heard out here in the East....
Former Bowmanville coach Curtis Hodgens is looking to get back into the coaching business somewhere next season...where might he be going??
And Little Britain Jr C coach Matty Muir is taking over a team in the south conference. Fans here in PH will remember him coaching the preds briefly at one time.
Is Curtis ready to get back into coaching with a young family? If so is Pickering a destination for him ? He had a lot of success in Bowmanville, can he do it with another team ?
I don't know about the family issues with Hodgins butI heard the Hodgins coaching rumour at the last PH playoff game a few weeks ago and then again last week talking to a friend from Bowmanville who follows the Eagles who had heard the same thing. If not Bowmanville then where??? I hear Pickering needs a coach but what other teams are looking for a coach.
Good for Matt Muir to be going to NY. I hope he does well there.
Good luck Matt Muir with that team your gonna need it!

As an Eagles fan, I would like to see Curtis in Bowmanville. West is a good coach, but it still looks a little grey for him right now in Eagle land. Curtis could be just what the Eagles need to "soar" next year.
thomas is coaching his son's toronto marlies minor midget team. if he coaches at st. mikes next year will his son also be there ?
port hope need a more experienced coach than o'grady. he's been in and out numerous times as an assistant coach over the last few seasons.
Love to know how rumours get started on here. For example ... where is this stuff about Steve Thomas coming from? Sure he may follow his son to St. Mikes .... but he already is listed as an assistant there. I don't Ricci is stepping aside.
But ... some might like the energy that Thomas might bring to the bench if he was the Bench Boss. I saw him yelling back and forth with the Vaughan coach last year. He really had the juice! The Vaughan coach yelled something like "What makes you so sure of yourself." Thomas replied with, "18 years in the NHL." Not another word was uttered from the Viper Pit.
I'm not sure of the exact wording. But there you have the jist of it.
Personally ... I'd like to see Thomas as the Bench boss, but considering how loyal the Buzzers are typically, I doubt Ricci will be asked to step aside.
Seeing as how Tim and Brendan are good friends, I cannot see him starting that kind of rumour! Mind you, this thread is about "rumours" so truthman may have heard it but it is NOT true. Truthman, you are a great "pot stirrer"!!!
Heard at the Markham game last night that Jon Campbell may go on board with the Fury? Any truth to that?

What does the rumour of Ricci joining DePiero in Oshawa do to the Thomas taking over the Buzzers speculation...?
Also heard / read somewhere, a different set of names for Durham...

For Durham info see thread titled 2008-2009 coaching changes...
Durham Fury HC John Winder, Asst. Bill Brady (Coburg), Asst. Trevor Nikwane (Ajax)
Good point. Hate to admit it, but despite my disbelief in my post above, truth_man may be right! There was no outright denials about O'Grady joining PH next year!!! May not be as head coach, but possibly assist? Maybe truth_man does speak part truth!!!!!
I didnt hear it from Tim or Brendan. I dont even know them but I did hear it from a close source from the team in PH. Put your money on it. Sorry for all the fuss.
That's what I thought, but lots of people don't seem to agree. It's nice to know there are smart people like you around in the world. Gives me confidence in the world we live in.
Is non other then Blackberryguy14, so if you have an inside source reveal it so the world well know who they are..
You can alter your name, but your IP remains the same. Also beware that when you hit other towers, with your palm pilot it changes IP's.
So stop the suspense and reveal the source of your info?
As I know who you are......LOL
Sir Winston Churchill made a revealing comment on the virture of truth:
"Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing had happened."
My comment was just stating that the news had already been reported, but in retrospect I realize my comment was rude and I apologize for that. I re-read the thread and saw no mention of the Cameron/ Toronto change.
Palm Pilot??? A little dated aren't we? Thought this thread was about rumours - no need to reveal your source!!!! Layoff truth_man - multiple users from one computer source one IP address! My son and I both pull the same IP address cuz we share the same computer.
Any news on the GM for Eagles? Since rookie camp starts in just a month - thought they might be close to naming someone?
hey onefastmf. not that I am someone in the know of such things but in the world of "palm pilot" (haha) or its more modern equivalents...the device's "private" IP address may change from site-to-site or region-to-region BUT the address the Internet sees (including this forum) does not change. most if not all carriers use a "proxy" or "NAT" address for all their handheld devices to access the Internet. Sorry but on that front, if you think that BBG and Truth_Man are one and the same you are more than likely mistaken.
there are other ways to figure it out...but you're smart, right?
Drumm vacates Predator bench for front office
Fri Mar 28, 2008
By: By Jason Chamberlain
PORT HOPE - The Port Hope Predators will embark on the 2008/09 hockey season with the guidance of a new head coach.
After serving as Port Hope head coach for one season, Brian Drumm will take on a newly-created position in the Predators front office — director of player advancement and development.
“I’m excited about it,” said Drumm, who cited an increasingly demanding schedule at his full-time job at General Motors as the reason why he had to step aside as coach. “The time commitment (makes it) almost impossible to do another year (as coach). This will allow me to stay active with the club.”
With his new role, Drumm will be able to utilize his bevy of contacts in hockey — from junior and NCAA all the way to pro — to both identify and attract new Predators and assist current team members in taking the next steps in their hockey careers.
“I still have a lot to offer the team. It will give Port Hope players a better opportunity to move on,” said Drumm, of his new role. “It gives us a strong management team.”
Drumm, who also spent years behind the Cobourg Cougars bench, looks forward to pooling his knowledge and scouting resources (including his in-depth knowledge of the Greater Toronto Area) with those of Tim Clayden, the club’s returning general manager.
“It’s phenomenal,” Drumm said of teaming up with his one time adversary. “Tim’s staying for another year and I wanted to work with him.”
The new position will allow Drumm to devote more time to both his job at GM and his family, while still allowing him to keep close tabs on the club.
“I have a family — a wife, and three kids. I have to prioritize. Now I don’t have to be in Wellington on a Thursday or Friday night, or run practices at 10 p.m. I will be at some games because I want to monitor the kids. I’ll need to see them on an ongoing basis.”
Drumm’s reassignment leaves a hole behind the Port Hope bench that will be filled as soon as Clayden and team ownership complete their search for the new coach, which is expected to be done before the team’s spring training camp in May. Though he’s ready for a new challenge, Drumm will still miss the hands on element of coaching.
“Sometimes a different direction gives you more energy. Coaching is a lot of fun, and I’ve done a lot of it. Some days I’ll miss it.
“But I won’t miss the late night practices.”

Just heard a RUMOUR that West was stepping down? Any truth to this rumour? Apparently he will assume a role in the eagles organization similar to Drumm's role in PH?
My rumour idol!! Now, do tell what is "rumoured" to take place in Durham? Will everything be in place for their upcoming rookie camp? One thing I have heard, is that they have invited local kids for the first time in many years! Good news!
What does it matter puckmaster? so what if it's Parry Sound ! could ask the same about people that have an IP address from Toronto..... or Oshawa..... for that matter. It's a forum, didn't realize there were rules about where you were from and it being limited to which teams you discussed !
