The latest is the Wellington Duke fiasco.
The recent breaking story of the "beer on the bus scandal" has taken this forum by a storm.
But like the many stories before it on various teams around this league, it garners much attention until the next one comes around.
Similar previous incidents involving Wellington, Port Hope and Trenton have all been much talked about as less than good for the overall image of the league.
What strikes me is this. That no matter what organization it is, none are immune from public scrutiny. None are impervious to acts of wrong doing.
As in many walks of life, it isn't always the boys with an incomplete resume of life's experiences who exercise less than sterling judgement.
It is not always "boys will be boys."
But what troubles me more than anything, is the tendency to normalize wrongdoing. Conversely to sensationalize it as something more than what it is, is just as troubling.
What never ceases to amaze me is the lengths to which some will go, either to expose it, or to cover it up.
This latest betrayal of trust is just another example of the age in which we live. That nothing is private anymore. With technology comes an even greater need to exercise good judgement.
The Wellington Dukes' organization has done much right in icing and developing young hockey players.
They did not deserve to have someone sending pictures of them around in compromised positions.
As far as I am concened, the person/s who did so are just as guilty of transgressions.

I agree with what you are saying...but...whoever sent those pictures around, was on that bus, probably a player showing off because surely an adult would not have done it. It is news and this forum is to discuss news around the league, good and not so good.
I think that the hardest thing to accept is how some of the Dukes fans are not seeing that this is wrong. Like I said before, if this were my team I would be embarassed, I wouldn't try to make excuses. The proof is there unless Wellinton has another team that is also coached by MA with all players being drinking age.......I think that is very unlikely. |

it was obviously an insider (some one on the bus) that captured the images and sent them onto the big unforgiving WWW.
It seems that some people can't help themselves with opportunities like this. Think before you click! They likely did not shoot the pics with a scandoulous purpose but were simply not thinking by posting them. Too late now.
The other disturbing part is the tone or sense of joy in some of the forum posters regarding this...ahemmmm Stinger... sad sad...
Unfortunately we have become a very litigious society and someone will have to answer over what could have been a 24 or 2 spilt amongst the entire bus during a 2 hour bus ride...whopie...
As Wayne said it shouldn't slide cause it happened (pics) but hopefully the "incident" will be looked at in context and common sense will prevail.
