As the hockey playoffs wind down, some thoughts are turning to summer and baseball.
With the recent release of Frank Thomas by the Jays, talks of Barry bonds signing with the club have heated up.

To all Blue Jays fans.

I would like to know what we baseball fans think. If this would change your view of the Toronto Blue Jays
Would this pique your interest in the team or turn you away ?

Go Raptors !
Go Jays !

If the Jays sign bonds

I might actually watch them again.

I haven't watched since the strike. Same cannot be said for Hockey.
I'm Canadian after all

Thomas was partly dumped because it was felt he would become a cancer in the dressing room. After all he does have a reputation for being a huge you know what. Why would the Jays sign another known cancer.

Toronto Maple Leafs= Ford Motor Company

Does anyone know why the Jays benched Frank Thomas only after I believe 16 games into the season and the eventually releasing him?

They sat him because they claimed he wasn't performing but more likely it was that AND the fact he had an option for next year if he got a certain number of at-bats this season. Contrary to what talk show callers insist, he's NOT typically a slow starter who heats up as the season progresses. Look up the numbers and you'll see he used to dominate in April and it's only been in the last 2-3 years his spring batting has been declining. It's age and nothing more. That pony is DONE.

Too bad Reed didn't stick around. He's doing real well for himself with the Cubbies.

I'd take Bonds. Yes, there's baggage, but at least in the AL he wouldn't have to field so he can play his role and get his at bats, hit the homers and get the walks. I doubt it'll happen though.

Is the question a little off topic? Sure. Is it the end of the world because something other than Tier II hockey in Southern Ontario is being discussed? Nope.

Surely if this forum had a section for all things NOT hockey, this would be there.

If you don't like it, don't read it. Where's it explicitly stated that it's ONLY hockey. Be realistic. The season is winding down and some people's attention wanders. To those baseball fans in Toronto, this has been an issue of conversation.
