There are 36 teams down here and only 13 up north. There are more teams in any given division than there are teams in the entire leagues up north. Should the Dudley-Hewitt not be played down here more often? Maybe the division could alternate with the northern leagues. West host followed by the north. Then the SIJHL hosts followed by the South and East and then finally the NOJHL.

Two issues in my eyes. One, is the team deserving to be the host and two how well is the event going to be attended. In my eyes the first part is most important, but it may not be as important for the organizers.
I heard the DHC in Thunder Bay was a hit two years ago... massive sold-out crowds and great hockey.

It also doesn't help that the two teams representing the NOJHL and SIJHL respectively are less than stellar and up to par with the OP clubs. Who wants to drive the 21 hours from Dryden for example to watch their clutch and grab hockey during the middle of the week when I'm assuming most people in Dryden have jobs, families, etc. to deal with?
probably should have more than one shot every three years, but
if it isnt in places that have a fan base that cares you dont
get a repeat of the Georgetown experience.
heck someplace like collingwood say
and that is all that i have to say about that

Assuming that the SIJHL is still around when the OP's turn comes up again.
Any idea on which team is looking to be the 2011 Dudley-Hewitt Cup host ?
Dale ? Collingwood maybe ?
If I had to guess, a team in the South or East would be given the nod over teams from the West or North because teams from those divisions recently hosted(Georgetown '05, Newmarket '08).
I do recall that when the Dudley-Hewitt was held in Georgetown, the Alcott arena was sold out for most,if not all, games. I understand it is a smaller sized building, but the interest was there.
The Raiders had a great season, and the "buzz" was carried through. Too bad there was still a "BUZZ" in Weyburn.
The tournament should be alternated on a league wide basis.
Does anybody know if Rogers is carrying the RBC, or are we now just dumped after excellent coverage of the playoffs and the Dudley?

There are a good number of teams that have not hosted that definately have a fan base. Port Hope hasn't hosted and is always near the top of the attendance statistics. Others include Huntsville, Hamilton, Kingston and Buffalo. The majority of teams in the OPJHL can match the attendance figures of the teams in the NOJHL (with the exception of North Bay and Abitibi).
