Weeks Upset Pembroke at the FPC

The host Weeks Crushers upset the #1 ranked Pembroke Lumberkings
to advance to the RBC in Cornwall.

Weeks led after one on a goal scored a couple of minutes after the
halfway mark of the first.

Pembroke tied it seconds before the mid point of the second.
The Lumberkings had a goal disallowed in the second, apparently
the puck touched an out of bounds area before being knocked into
the net.

Weeks scored with just over six minute left in regulation to go
up 2-1 and they added another to go up 3-1 late, then another with
less then 30 seconds left for a 4-1 final.

Go Raptors !
Go Jays !

Good for the Crushers... but this is why I don't like host teams... Pembroke would have had a real shot at the RBC. Not to say the Crushers won't, but they were eliminated in the MJAHL playoffs and I am not big on second chances in the playoffs.

Wow, what an upset. The Lumber Kings beat Weeks in the 1st game of the round robin 7-1. Another example of a Host Team taking advantage of the home Arena and the backing of the fans, over 1,000 at the final, it can happen and obviously it did here. I would have bet on the Lumber Kings having an excellent shot at winning the RBC Cup. Oh well, that's Junior hockey at it's best.

Interesting to note, the coach of the Weeks' Crushers was one of Jerome Dupont's assistant coaches on Team Canada East this year.
